Product Description
This follow-up to the highly successful Blitz Cartooning Kit (more than 250,000 units sold) teaches the basics of cartooning in a completely innovative way thanks to the exciting new Blitz Re-Tooner™. In addition to traditional drawing exercises and games, the kit allows any fledgling cartoonist to create original drawings on a clever wipe-away surface that packs neatly away. Blitz's 56-page book presents page-by-page projects that are done with the Re-Tooner™-a plastic "box" set at an incline by risers on the bottom for ease and comfort in drawing. The user slides one of 50 Re-Tooner™ sheets beneath the clear plastic surface, which can be drawn on and wiped clean again and again. The Re-Tooner™ sheets feature partial illustrations and guidelines for learning a particular lesson that's detailed and cross-referenced. BLITZ ULTIMATE CARTOONING KIT comes with the instruction book, Re-Tooner™, two black markers, one wipe-away cloth, and 50 Re-Tooner™ sheets.

Not that useful June 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Blitz series of cartooning books is excellent, and I've learned a lot from them. I wouldn't recommend this kit though. It teaches you the Blitz method for drawing faces, but it's not that useful.
You put an outline in the stand and a transparency sheet over the outline. Then you draw on the transparency sheet, experimenting with different noses, eyes, etc. The problem is, the outlines have very dark bold black lines, while the marker creates lighter colored, sort of transparent lines. The cat drawing in the product picture implies that the lines you draw are pitch black. Definitely not true.
As a result, when you look at the transparency and outline together, you don't see it as a whole cartoon but rather as a combination of lighter and darker colored lines. In addition, drawing on a transparency is different from drawing on paper. When you draw on paper, you need to control your hands differently because of the way the pencil feels on the paper's texture.
The stand is also pretty flimsy.
I would recommend investing in a light box and some tracing paper, in addition to the Big Book of Cartooning, rather than in this kit.

My children all love it. Ages 10, 9, 7 and 5. Very entertaining as a family activity.
You can become a cartoonist instantly! February 20, 2005 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I am a teacher who really likes to draw cartoons on my board but honestly I don't know how. I used to memorise a face or two to use but now with this kit, things are much easier. There are 50 retooner boards in which you can learn about drawing faces, features, bodies, and everything you need. You can create so many drawings and even retooner cards from th accompanying book or even Blitz Big Book of Cartooning. My poor 8, 6, 3-year old kids just opened their mouths with excitement and just looked at the cartoons i created. By the way the kit is for me not them and so they have to earn their kits by being really nice kids. I am sure I can't wait to buy each one of them the tool to be great cartoonists.
